Why have you become a trainer:I became a personal trainer to guide others in an environment that I am totally familiar with. I grew up a wide-eyed youngster in gyms (19 years ago) and learned from many experienced people. What personal training enables me to do is help others when they have given up, when they are uneducated, or when they re feeling helpless. I chose this profession because I have the empathy needed to really affect people in a positive way.
Describe a particularly challenging client you have trained:A client who asks to many questions misses the "forest for the trees". A client who thinks they know things because a friend taught them can be a challenge. And mostly, clients that don't understand the amount of hard work and effort needed to really change their body is a big challenge. However, I think training the general population client can be very rewarding because of the mental barriers that are broken.
How would you help an overweight client lose weight:In order for an overweight individual to lose fat, a program based upon behavior modification must be developed. Support, direction, and constant reassurance must be maintained while creating a positive atmosphere. The psychological aspect of changing someone's outlook on their body is a powerful tool when helping others. Designing a sound exercise program is also necessary to accompany the positive reinforcements.
