Why have you become a trainer:

As a child I was asthmatic and overweight. I didn't get enough activity, and our family routinely snacked on chips and ice cream. Kids laughed at me and I had a poor self image until I discovered the power of exercise and eating right. Now at age 46 I'm a bigger believer, exercise and healthy eating keep people younger longer. Exercise improves self image, relieves stress,and improves a list of health conditions too long to mention. That is why I'm gratified to help others at the end of each day

What in your opinion is the biggest mistake people make while working out:

Most people are not working intensely enough. This would include not adding variety to the workouts. If a person only runs for example, not only will their fitness plateau, but they are also more likely to get a repetitive use injury. A balanced program includes cardiovascular training, resistance training, core and balance work, and stretching. The best athletes in any sport are not just doing that sport. Cross-training can make everyone stronger.

Describe your own workout program:

My own program varies every week. I like to run, so I will do that 2 to 4 times weekly. I vary the distance and the terrain. We have lots of hills and trails nearby. I also weight train 3 or 4 days each week. I change up my training split depending on the days. I vary the exercises, I also vary the weights and reps so that I have heavy and light weeks. I also vary the resistance type (cables, free weights, pilates reformer). I also incorporate yoga, stretching, balance training, and cycling.
