What other skills do you bring to the table besides your training experience:I have a Master's and a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and an Associate's degree in Dietetic Technology. I teach health, fitness, and activity classes at Kennesaw State University. During college, I worked as a trainer and group exercise leader.
I have worked with children, adolescents, young adults, and senior citizens, as well as athletes. I am a Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor.
Why should a client train with you:I have diverse experience ranging from working in a physical therapy clinic as an assessment specialist and P.T. assistant to working with special populations, including adapted physical education. I have taught water aerobics, step aerobics, kickboxing, high and low impact, and senior aerobics. I have worked with individuals of various ages and ability levels and believe I have the educational background and experience to safely help people achieve their fitness goals.
Please describe how you would train a 45 year old male with type II diabetes in order to lose weight:I would approach this with dietary intervention as well as exercise intervention. I would begin by having him complete a health history form to get a better idea of any co-morbidities he may have as a result of Type 2 diabetes. After he has been medically cleared to exercise, I would have him work up to 60 minutes of low impact cardio followed by resistance training that would focus on high reps at a low weight using 8-10 exercises.
