What is your training style:Comprehensive Personal Training. Training must include more than just checking exercises off of a standardized chart. Training must include education for the client, motivation, nutrition counseling, and specific instructions for fitness work to be done outside of the gym as well as a clear routine for clients while they are on travel. I adapt my style as necessary depending on what I learn through my experience, other trainers, and from reading the latest relevant medical journals.
What do you think about the latest trends in the fitness industry:Many of the basics in training methods will always stand the test of time, luckily with technology, we can improve upon individual components of these methods. The introduction of new apparatus such as stability balls, bosu trainers, and more has allowed for new variations on already proven exercises. It is important for all trainers to continue to be aware of new trends in fitness, most especially by reading professional journals (Physiology, Kinesiology, Metabolism, and Anatomy related).
What other skills do you bring to the table besides your training experience:In addition to my experience, I have a strong academic background (Concentration/Minor in Exercise Physiology, Certifications: ACE, NESTA), a strong Athletic background as an athlete and coach in Wrestling (formerly ranked #14 NCAA in Division 1), Swimming, Soccer, Baseball, and Swimming, and valuable 6-month training interning with Physical Therapists at Oaklands Physical Therapy Center in Pennsylvania. I credit all of these for my skill at designing training programs for my clients.
