What in your opinion is the biggest mistake people make while working out:Form, form, form! Even if lifting a three-pound weight, there's a right way and a dangerous way to do it. The way we stand, breathe, stretch, walk, lift or use a machine will determine if we get fit, get hurt or generally waste our bodies’ time. Using weight-bearing machine or body part too fast is the No.1 mistake. Pay attention to your actions. Slow, deliberate movements ask the body to perform, not defend itself. If pumping arms too fast, shoulders & joints are doing the work, not the muscle.
Describe a particularly challenging client you have trained:A female client whose mother called her fat and disgusting. She felt bad about herself and hated to exercise and looked for every excuse in the book to keep eating too much sugar and carbohydrates. Self-sabotage was her game of choice. I had to tell stories, invite other people along to exercise, find all kinds of new exercises, combine social events or include healthy treats just to keep her going and develop a regular exercise routine!
How would you help an overweight client lose weight:By helping you appreciate your body & helping make daily movement a lifestyle choice. Everyone deserves to lead an active lifestyle. I work to create a bond of faith & trust that'll strengthen this belief. It takes focused, directed effort to transform your body. In order to effectively focus your effort, you need clear direction. I've developed a very solid knack for un-confusing people, so prepare to gain clarity! You will come to understand a great deal about exercise and supportive eating.
