What is your training style:My training is specific to each client's goals and needs; that said, my approach with all clients is rooted in functionality, performance, and longevity. The modes of training I employ are derived from a number of disciplines, including gymnastics, olympic weightlifting, kickboxing & grappling, kettlebell and dumbbell training. Much of my training is based on the CrossFit model: mixed-modality, high-intensity, and constant variation.
What in your opinion is the biggest mistake people make while working out:The primary popular mistake is with modes of training: too many people have been misguided by the bodybuilding model and have found nothing but frustration in their failure to achieve their goals. Once this mistake has been recognized, mistakes that follow are those of technique, programming and nutrition. The mastery of these things demands an experiences trainer, but eventual independence should be an ultimate goal.
In general, please describe your experience:I'm an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, USA Weightlifting Club Coach, Level III CrossFit Trainer, and a CSUH Certified Personal Trainer. I'm also the co-publisher and managing editor of and regular contributor to the internationally acclaimed nutrition and athletics journal The Performance Menu. I work with some of the best coaches and athletes in the country, including the #1 ranked male weightlifter, Casey Burgener.
