Why have you become a trainer:I have been actively training on my own for over a decade. My training regime enabled me to overcome injuries sustained in an automobile accident. After my recouperation, I had an ephipany and decided that my experience along with my enthusiasm would be a great way to show my experience in a positive light. Upon completing my ISSA certification, I began working in my local health club and taking on friends for my clients.
What in your opinion is the biggest mistake people make while working out:The biggest mistake most people make when working out is believing that the results seen on television advertisement are going to be theirs with minimal efforts. I have seen too many people become frustrated and stop excersing when they get sore and find that their bodies have not evolved as rapidly as they thought or were led to believe. My motto is that a person did not get out of shape overnight and that they should not expect to return to being in shape overnight.
Do you encourage your clients to stop smoking / quit drinking, if yes - how:As an ex-smoker, I can related to the difficulties associated with stopping. Yes by now everyone is aware of the health hazards associated with tobacco products, yet there are those who refuse to surrender the habit. All I can do is re-enforce the negative aspects of tobacco use and its detrement to overall health and quality of life
As for alcohol consumption, I refrain from telling clients if or how much they should or should not consume. It is their choice not mine.
