Trainer Experience Questions:

What is your training style:

A great deal of my style is really about "getting back to the basics" with all the fitness fads out there people who are trying to lose weight or get in shape have lost site of the tried but true exercises of basic lunges, squats, push-ups, pull-ups etc to better shape their body and build muscle. I use one's own body weight, free weights, manual resistance, tubing, BOSU, stability balls, & medicine balls as part of my training regiment for clients.

Describe your own workout program:

I try to eat as clean as possible,I try to purchase lots of organic and locally grown produce when possible . I eat 6 meals a day with lots of water though-out my day. I also look for fiber rich foods to help keep me feeling satiated, foods like blackberries, raspberries , figs, apples etc. I try to instill these habits in my children as well as my clients. I workout 4 days a week, I do a 25 min intense cardio session followed by 30mins of strength training and then stretching exercises.

How would you help an overweight client lose weight:

I would sit down with them and evaluate their eating habits and ask them to keep a food diary, so that we could monitor their intake "together" then we woulds start making changes as needed. I would slowly integrated them into cardio programs that they felt comfortable with and start strength training with them to help "build" some muscle. It's key to have it be fun and something that they can do for the long haul. It's a lifestyle change not a fad diet, I want them to succeed.
