Why have you become a trainer:I'm sorry if this is graphic, but it's the truth. I became a wellness educator because I watched cancer over-take my mother's life. As I read more and more about the disease, I found out that being overweight lends itself to so many diseases including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension - just to name a few. If I can prevent ONE person from going through what my Mom went through, I will have done my job on this planet.
What other skills do you bring to the table besides your training experience:I have been training adults for over 10 years. In addition to being a certified personal trainer, I am also a certified sports nutrition coach and a licensed wellness coach. I started out in computers & changed careers into fitness in order to help clients lead healthier lives. I am passionate about helping people live without the use of medications and healing themselves through food and activity.
How would you help an overweight client lose weight:I don't watch my clients on the treadmill. It's insulting & a waste of my client's money. I strength train circuit style, concentrating on major muscle groups.
Although cardiovascular exercise and strength training are important to build muscle and burn calories, in order to really see a change in one's physique, the client's diet needs to be reworked. Working out can not forgive a poor diet - eating good and nutritions foods are key.
