Trainer Experience Questions:

What is your training style:

My training style focuses more on the movement of the joint and muscle group that I am training. I love the feel of all 3 muscle action contractions (eccentric, isometric, concentric contractions)and will train each muscle in that order. I also love train muscle groups in different angles as they relate to joint motion and direction or range of motion. The most important action in training for me is the mind and muscle connection, focusing everything on the muscle being trained.

What do you think about the latest trends in the fitness industry:

I think that the latest trends in the fitness industry, particularly training modalities, are exceptional. I love all the functional training exercises as they can be modified to fit anyones goals or needs. I do feel that the industry with the influx of so many fitness clubs has focused more on making a profit than helping people in need (i.e., addressing the obesity issue of Americans). Selling fitness is not for me but supporting someone who chooses to get fit and healthy is my calling.

What other skills do you bring to the table besides your training experience:

For 11 years I have served the State of Missouri as a Youth Specialist with Division of Youth Services and as a Theraputic Foster Parent. In doing so, I have gained knowledge and experience in developing relationships with people. Empathy (being able to see and feel what your client feels) is something that most people or trainers struggle with but I have found that it is a gift if mastered and used correctly, especially for a personal trainer. This is what connects you to your clients.
