My Introduction:
Why have you become a trainer?
To help people be their best. This is not to compete with anyone else or with the image that the media presents, just THEIR best. I often encounter two different desires. The first is that someone wants to lose weight for someone else. The second is that someone wants to be what he/she see in the media. Both are false and unrealistic goals. We are all individuals and can be our personal best, not someone else's.
What in your opinion is the biggest mistake people make while working out?
Too much, too soon! I know that everyone wants results fast ;) but the reality is that consistency with a fitness program is what will achieve results. Stick with it...you CAN do it! A well planned program coupled with motivation from the trainer and dedication from the client will be the most successful. Yes, the client will have to WORK to achieve results, but I guarantee that it will be worth the effort!
In general, please describe your experience?
Group exercise instructor since 1981 and a health club member before that. Acquired A.C.E. certification in 1986 and ACSM in 1991. I have worked in management in a health club since 1987 and was the Group Exercise Director from 1990 - 2007. I still teach group exercise classes at the same club (member count at approx. 5500). I have not had many personal training clients, mainly due to the time I spent in management, but I am capable of helping a wide range of clients with their fitness program.
