Why have you become a trainer?
I became a trainer because I have been around the gym my whole life as well as being an athlete my whole life. I want to help people start and maintain healthier lifestyles, not only during our sessions but all day every day. My dad is a doctor and I've watched him help people in his office and the hospital my entire life and want to help people as well but help them stay out of the hospital and away from their doctor.
Do you encourage your clients to stop smoking / quit drinking, if yes - how?
Yes, I encourage all of my clients to quit smoking, however I do not encourage them to quit drinking but do talk to them about scaling their drinking back to only socially on the weekends. As far as smoking goes, I sit down with them and talk about what brings on their urges to smoke, whether it's stress or something else and talk with them about other ways to relieve that stress some other way, and also have them record when and how many cigarettes they smoke each day and why.
In general, please describe your experience?
I did many projects in college on exercise physiology and nutrition and kinesiology. I also helped put together nutrition and strength training programs for a few friends and teammates at school. After i graduated I got certified through the ACSM as a Health Fitness Instructor and worked at Fitness 19 for 4 months as a personal trainer working with clients ranging from high school athletes to seniors. I left after 4 months because of management issues.
